Who We Are

The Rejo Association is a non-profit, non-political organization. We are dedicated to
empowering Somali youth and fostering positive change.

Mission & Vision
Our mission at the Rejo Organization is to empower young people through capacity
building, peacebuilding, cultural dialogue, and the Sustainable Development Goals. We
believe that young people can create positive change in their communities and beyond.
Our vision is a world where all young people have the tools, resources, and opportunities
to realize their full potential, contribute to a more peaceful, just, and sustainable future,
become active leaders in their communities, and work across cultures and borders to build
a better Somalia for all.
Our goal is to support underprivileged children by providing free education, improving
the quality of education, and offering sports activities, cultural and heritage programs, and
workshops, while our community service projects focus on environmental sustainability,
improving general health, empowering women, promoting peace, and other important
initiatives.

Rejo primary school
Rejo Primary School believes that education is a basic human right, yet thousands of
children in Somalia are still denied access to it.
We have helped build an educational center in Qoraxey, in the Abudwak area of the
Galmudug region, where children are now learning in a safe and comfortable environment.
However, the center still needs donations to improve the facility, provide better classrooms
and restrooms, supply educational materials, and support teachers’ salaries.

Rejo Sport Academy.
Young people between the ages of 9 and 17 can join the Rejo Sport Academy. Rejo offers a
Youth Mentoring Program that includes weekly classes and activities.
Youth sports help children develop social skills by connecting them with others who share
similar interests. They encourage interaction and create a strong sense of community and
shared goals. Children also learn teamwork, healthy competition, good sportsmanship, and
empathy. These experiences teach valuable life skills that carry into other areas of their
lives.

Rejo Media
Young people are often excluded from meaningful news coverage and rarely have the
opportunity to share their perspectives. In many newsrooms, youth voices are only
included during protests, natural disasters, or other traumatic events.
We cannot talk about the future of journalism without including the next generation. Rejo
Media is committed to centering youth voices and giving young people the skills, tools, and
confidence to tell their own stories about the issues affecting their communities and to
become the next generation of journalists, leaders, and changemakers.
